The opening stage of the race will start in Noirmoutier-en-l’Île and is one of two flat stages to begin the race that will see the sprinters fight for the yellow jersey.
The 105th edition of the Tour, features a hilly 31km (19-mile) time trial through the Basque country on the penultimate day.
The entire route comprises barely 3,300km, with organisers declaring their intention being to “provide a vision of modern and inspired cycling”.
